🇧🇷 Davide Ancelotti Appointed Botafogo Head Coach in Breakthrough Role

Davide Ancelotti, son of Brazil national team manager Carlo Ancelotti, has officially been named the new head coach of Botafogo, the Rio de Janeiro club confirmed on Tuesday.

At just 35 years old, Ancelotti steps into his first head coaching role, marking a significant new chapter in his fast-growing football career.

🔁 From Assistant to the Big Seat

Davide has served as an assistant coach alongside his father at elite European clubs including Real Madrid, Everton, Napoli, and Bayern Munich. Now, he takes full control of a top-flight Brazilian team with a contract running until the end of 2026.

He replaces Renato Paiva, who departed after Botafogo’s Round of 16 exit at the FIFA Club World Cup.

🌎 International Transition

Ancelotti had been working with Brazil’s national squad after moving to South America earlier this year. However, he was released from his assistant duties to assume the leadership role at Botafogo, a historic club aiming to re-establish itself among Brazil’s elite.

👨‍👦 A New Era for the Ancelotti Legacy

His father, Carlo Ancelotti, wrapped up his time at Real Madrid at the end of last season and was officially unveiled as head coach of Brazil’s national team on May 12. The elder Ancelotti made history by becoming the first non-Brazilian to lead the Seleção since 1965.

Now, with both father and son managing in Brazil, the Ancelotti name is poised to leave a lasting imprint on South American football.
